Internal Fit-Out Sydney — Bringing Your Home to Life Inside
Plumbing, electrical, plastering, tiling, cabinetry, painting, and all interior finishes. Where the house becomes a home.
Quick Answer
Internal fit-out takes 8–14 weeks for a standard home and covers plumbing, electrical, plastering, waterproofing, tiling, cabinetry, painting, and fixtures. Trade sequencing is critical — Buildana coordinates all internal trades with quality checks at every stage across Western Sydney.
Where the House Becomes a Home
Internal fit-out is where your house becomes a home. Every trade is sequenced precisely — plumbing rough-in before plastering, waterproofing before tiling, cabinetry before second-fix plumbing. Get the sequence wrong and you pay for rework. Get it right and the build flows smoothly to completion.
Buildana coordinates all internal trades: plumbing (rough-in and fit-off), electrical wiring and fixtures, plastering and cornices, waterproofing, tiling, cabinetry installation, painting, flooring, and appliance installation. Quality checks at every stage ensure nothing is hidden behind walls that shouldn't be.
We deliver fit-outs across Sydney — including Fairfield, Liverpool, Cumberland, Canterbury-Bankstown, and Blacktown LGAs — for custom homes, duplexes, granny flats, townhouses, renovations, and commercial projects.

Trade Sequence — Why Order Matters
Internal fit-out follows a strict 13-step sequence. Each trade depends on the previous one being completed and inspected. Disrupting this sequence causes delays, defects, and cost blowouts.
Rough-in trades: electrical wiring, plumbing pipes, gas lines, insulation
Plasterboard installation (once rough-in inspected)
Plastering and cornice
Internal doors and hardware
Kitchen cabinetry installation
Bathroom waterproofing (AS 3740) — mandatory inspection before tiling
Tiling (bathrooms and wet areas)
Electrical fit-off (powerpoints, switches, light fittings)
Plumbing fit-off (taps, toilets, vanities, appliances)
Painting (walls then ceilings)
Floor coverings (after painting — protects floors)
Kitchen appliances and splashback (last kitchen items)
Final clean
Bathroom Waterproofing — AS 3740 Compliance
AS 3740 is the Australian standard for waterproofing of domestic wet areas. Compliance is mandatory, and the waterproofing membrane must be inspected by the certifier before any tiling can commence.
Waterproofing failure is classified as a major defect under the Home Building Act 1989 — covered by Buildana's 6-year structural warranty. This is why we never shortcut this stage.
The membrane must be applied by a licensed builder, extend the correct distance up walls (varies by zone within the bathroom), and pass a water-ponding test before sign-off.
Quality Control & Timeline
Buildana's QC Process
Internal quality checks at every sub-stage before the next trade starts. Plasterboard alignment, tile layout verification, paint finish inspection, and cabinetry fit — all checked against selections documents before proceeding.
Fit-Out Timeline
Lock-up to practical completion: 12–18 weeks for single storey, 16–24 weeks for double storey. Timeline depends on selections complexity, weather delays at critical stages, and any client-requested variations.

How It Works
From First Call to Final Key
Plumbing pipes, electrical wiring, and HVAC ducting installed inside wall and ceiling cavities. This is inspected and approved before being concealed by plasterboard.
⏱Wall and ceiling insulation installed for thermal and acoustic performance. Plasterboard fixed, joints taped, set, and sanded. Cornices installed.
⏱Wet areas (bathrooms, laundry, shower recesses) waterproofed and flood-tested. Wall and floor tiles laid with precision. Grouting and sealing completed.
⏱Kitchen, bathroom, and laundry cabinetry installed. Benchtops templated and fitted. Built-in wardrobes and any custom joinery installed.
⏱Plumbing fit-off (tapware, toilets, basins), electrical fit-off (switches, power points, lights), painting, flooring, appliance installation, and final clean.
